10,000 Carrots Rabbit Rescue

Current Charity

10,000 Carrots Rabbit Rescue

10,000 Carrots Rabbit Rescue is a non-profit, unfunded organization that is devoted to the rescue, spay/neuter, and re-homing of domestic rabbits in Nova Scotia. We run solely on donations.

The rescue does not have a shelter and our rabbits are kept in private foster homes, we are very good at working with potential adopters to arrange for meeting our bunnies.

We advocate for good rabbit nutrition (rabbits need HAY), veterinary care (we can recommend several rabbit savvy vets), rabbit-proofed, cage free environments (if at all possible), and homes with rabbit parents who are willing to learn.

Our rabbits are adopted to loving, indoor homes. The fee for adoption is currently $60 per rabbit or $100 for a bonded pair. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us with and we will send you and application or download an application form from our website.

February - Homeward Bound City Pound

HBCP is a private organisation funded by HRM and each year we receive hundreds of animals needing immediate medical or behavioural attention. Some have been injured, neglected or abused and require extensive treatment. Although we are funded, all donations from the public are put aside into a medical fund. This fund helps us provide extras for the animals such as dental cleaning, grooming, visits to specialists and enrichment products such as treats, toys and dietary supplements. It also goes towards helping members of the public that are unable to afford the fees towards redeeming their dogs, in special cases.

This year we are proud to say we have adopted out more than 200 animals, and if we hadn’t been funded, that number would be much less. HBCP is only able to have such a significant impact within the community with support of its staff, volunteers and those who donate to our mission.

January - Litter's n Critters

Here is a little about the charity

Litters 'n Critters Rescue Society is a 100% Volunteer all breed dog specific rescue. We are a registered society and a not for profit rescue that was formed on April 17, 2007 and is dedicated solely to the well being of dogs of any breed, big and small. We try our best to help as many dogs as we can, no matter what their breed or mix is. We place the welfare of the pets that come into our rescue first and foremost.
We do not have a shelter or a physical address as we rely solely on the fostering process. All the dogs who come into rescue are placed in foster homes until they are adopted. While they are in foster care, they live with the foster families as if they are their own dogs. The dogs are assessed and evaluated and the foster families are able to judge what kind of family environment would be best suited for their foster dog.
We do not receive grants or government funding so our only means of raising money is through fundraising and private donations. All money raised goes directly to help pay for our vet bills, food, essentials such as collars, leashes, dishes etc, all money raised goes to help the dogs, not one penny goes to people.

We advocate rehabilitation and adoption of companion dogs and we assist people with rehoming their dogs. We help to inform the public on responsible pet ownership and how to make a knowledgeable decision on choosing a family dog. We emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering your pet and we assist people in finding suitable training methods. We help rescue dogs from northern Labrador and any other area where dogs need us.
